Xolani Lawo has a special bond with penguins, and when he's at work, he can often be spotted chatting with the endangered birds, much like a kindergarten teacher would talk to curious toddlers.

Xolani (44) is the senior bird rehabilitator at the west coast African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary, where he and his team treat and rehabilitate sea birds and Africa's only native species of penguin.
