Tierra Williams (23) and Dariaun Parker (25) from Ohio in US have been sentenced to 18-month prison sentences after their two-year-old daughter, Wynter Parker, was found frozen to death on the porch of their home in February 2018, Metro reports.

Williams, who was pregnant with her third child last year, claims she left the little girl in the care of Parker while she was out with her four-year-old son, but when she returned the little one was unconscious in the -7°C weather.

She immediately called emergency services, Mirror reports. "She’s frozen! She’s frozen,” Williams reportedly shouted at the dispatcher.

Wynter wasn’t dressed warmly at the time and died of hypothermia.

The couple pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangerment when they appeared in court in November last year. Their other two children have been place in the care of their grandmother, Angela Williams, Daily Mail reports.

Angela Williams begged the court that her daughter be put on probation and not jailed for “one bad decision”.

“We need to heal as a family and not be pulled apart with [Tierra] being gone from her kids and her family,” she said.

“I can’t tell you how sorry I am about what happened. It was a tragic accident,” the Akron Beacon Journal reported her as saying.
