A brand-new NPO, Support of Community Hearts, was launched at the Eikestad Hall in Cloetesville on Saturday 6 April.

The organisation is dedicated to serving the communities of Stellenbosch and surrounds areas in a bid to foster positive change and holistic development.

“Our focus spans across various critical areas including youth development, addressing gender-based violence, providing support for the elderly, nurturing differently-abled children and elders, and promoting education through scholarship programmes,” said president Sonja Adonis.

Support of Community Hearts enjoys the unwavering support of MWI/MMI International, a US-based pageantry company. During the launch, MWI/MMI International president Cynthia Naomi Keitt, joined the event online, sharing her vision for the organisation’s Scholastic Scholarship Programme.

Her words resonated deeply as she spoke of the transformative power of education, igniting a fire within all present to champion the cause of learning and opportunity for children everywhere.

Kyle Adams, vice-president of Support Community Hearts, also shared the NPO’s vision and mission, painting a vivid picture of the impact the organisation hopes to achieve.

Eighteen-year-old Terry-Lee Haffit, a resident of Kylemore, also shared her story of the NPO’s impact on her life. As one of the first recipients of the Scholastic Scholarship she shared her journey of resilience, determination and unwavering support from the organisation.

Adonis, who is also Mrs MWI International Elite, introduced the NPO’s flagship initiatives – the scholarship programme and the creative aftercare school with a difference. The scholarship programme will see two students receive a scholarship to further their education and other prizes.

The steering committee of Support of Community Hearts is Adonis (president); Adams (vice-president); Phumzile Khoza (treasurer); Ziphozonke Nyembe (secretary); and crew members Sandra de Koker, Estelle Blaauw and Elma Claasens.
