Do Muslim and Jewish communities coexist happily in SA?

accreditation
The South African Jewish Board of Deputies are appalled by pro-Palestine group BDS' plans to invite a notorious plane hijacker to SA next month. And in the wake of the Woolworths saga...is the relationship between these two groups on a knife's edge? We discuss the issue with SAJBD chairman Mary Kluk. Watch.

With the world still reeling from recent terrorist attacks carried out in Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia, the Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has announced that it will be bringing notorious plane hijacker Leila Khaled to South Africa as its guest next month. The SAJBD in particular have condemned this move.

Last year BDS members placed a pig's head in what was thought to be the Kosher section, of a Woolworths store in Cape Town (allegedly to show their disapproval of Woolworths trading goods with Israel). This was followed by a protest against anti-Semitism by the local Jewish community. Relations between these two religious groups in SA has had a fair amount of flare-ups over the past year, as Mary discusses.
