We speak to Hani, 29, an ex-convict who was a victim of mob justice in his community. Watch.
Hani explains hijackings, robberies and a murder that he was a part of, and gives a grueling account of what happened to him when the community he lived in decided to take matters into their own hands.
Hani's face was carved, and his eye gouged out, he tells us he was left in an informal settlement to die. Find out how he survived, and what his life is like now.
Hani is an ex-resident of City Mission, an organisation that dedicates themselves to rehabilitating and re-integrating ex-convicts back into regular society. City Mission offers programs to people who have recently been released from jail, that help them find religion and purpose in their lives. The organisation also offers a halfway house, where recently released prisoners can live.
