Watch this incredible time lapse footage of the Cape Town southern peninsula fire as it spread over a portion of the mountain on Sunday night.

The footage was uploaded to YouTube by Jason Kamera and, according to the uploader's description, shows the fire between the hours of 19.39 and 21.32.

Residents of Cape Town neighbourhoods affected by the fires currently raging through parts of the South Peninsula have spoken of having to evacuate their homes as the flames got nearer.
