As a single twenty-two
year old female who just relocated to a new city, I should be excited about all
the convenient ways to plunge into the dating pool without having to go to the
bar and wait for some guy to determine my worth with a free drink.
So why not get into dating through social media right? Wrong, while cursing through a series of apps, it's clear that some of these app developers might have hit a new savvy-low. If these apps were infomercials they would go a little like this:
1. Haven’t mastered the first date and tired of relying on animated magazine advice? Say hello to Crowd Pilot: in which three is certainly not a crowd.
The app allows you to live stream your date to a grand jury that will “guide” you through it. There are many people who are concerned with your first-date-syndrome.
2. So you met the “one” but you feel you've done every sexual act possible and you desperately seeking a challenge.
Why not source a third wheel? 3nder allows you and your partner to swipe left or right if you are searching for that perfect someone that wants to have a threesome. I can't be the only person that thinks it's weird that there are people out there waiting for their chance to be picked to star in a threesome.
3. Tired of dating broke and unattractive people? Well Luxy intends on helping you filter out the non-elite. Simply add your salary upon signing up and mingle with the 1% population that’s just as shallow.
4. Remember when you got a random friend request from that cutie and the moment you clicked “confirm” you thought we should probably bang? Down has heard your cries and has created an app to help you do exactly that - bang your Facebook Friends. No, we are not joking.
5. Ever wondered why you suck at online dating? Maybe it’s because you just suck! The Grade is the latest app that, well, grades you based how often you are "liked" by other users, how often you respond to matches and also checks misspellings and foolish messages/comments you send.
And if you still not dateable, the app can “expels” you, but don’t worry the app gives you a second chance at love by helping you groom yourself before trying again.
Well if this is what dating has to offer nowadays I may just go to that bar after all.
