Police are investigating a case of armed robbery after a woman was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the Crowthorne Shopping Centre in Midrand on Wednesday last week.
The woman, who spoke to News24, said she had gone grocery shopping around midday.
"When I came back from Woolworths, I got into my car and parked it closer to the Sorbet salon as I had an appointment there," she said.
Speaking to News24, the woman said that once she had parked, she quickly checked a few emails in the car while she waited for her appointment.
"A man jumped into my car with a gun. I tried to get out, but he pulled me back in and told me that if I were to scream, he would shoot me."
In CCTV footage of the incident, the man remains in the vehicle for a few seconds, before leaving with valuables.
According to the woman, the man took the engagement ring which she had received from her partner just over a month ago.
"The complainant alleged that she was robbed of her ring, handbag and car key at gunpoint by suspects driving in a white Mercedes-Benz", said police spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela.
According to Tlamela, the investigation is still underway with no arrests made at this stage.
The woman said that she hoped the incident would be an eye-opener for people to be more vigilant in these situations.
