A video is doing the rounds on social media showing an armed robbery at a local store in Jeppe, central Johannesburg, during which two people were shot.
A gang of men are seen entering the store on October 26 and taking money from the cash register. One suspect can be seen wearing a balaclava and carrying what looks like a handgun.
One of the victims is seen entering the store a few minutes after the gang and getting into a scuffle with one of the robbers. He is subsequently shot.
Police have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.
"A case of business robbery, as well as attempted murder, has been opened," said Johannesburg Central police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele.
Mbele told News24 that two people had been shot during the robbery, including a 31-year-old woman. Both have since been discharged from hospital.
"No one has been arrested as yet. The police investigation is still underway," said Mbele.
