Parties at COP28 failed to reach a consensus on setting targets for climate adaptation during technical negotiations. Now it is up to political figures, including Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister Barbara Creecy, to find common ground – or this year's conference will be very disappointing for South Africa, and other developing nations seeking to protect people and ecosystems from climate change.
