After a furious Winston Churchill was replaced by Clement Attlee as British prime minister following the Second World War, Churchill apparently bristled to a colleague that after he was ousted, an empty taxi arrived at 10 Downing Street "and when the door opened, Attlee got out".
South Africa’s government leaders would be rounded on by Churchill as being equally vacuous if he had the chance to size them up.
