Pictures of a heartbroken woman honouring her lover have gone viral.

An American woman from Indiana wore her wedding dress at her late fiancé’s graveside on 29 September, the day they were meant to have tied the knot, reports Daily Mail

Jessica Padget’s fiancé, volunteer firefighter Kendall James Murphy, was killed in November last year in a car accident by an alleged drunk driver as he was helping a crash victim in Davies County in Kentucky, reports News.com.au.

As Kendall opened the passenger door of his car to get his protective gear, he was struck by the speeding vehicle and died immediately.

Jessica’s mom later approached a photographer and asked if she’d document the pair’s would-be wedding day.

Photographer Mandi Knepp agreed and spent the day with the couple’s family and bridal party – capturing heartbreaking images of the would-be bride holding Kendall’s boots and kneeling tearfully beside his grave.

Kendall’s parents brought along his firefighting gear which were also captured in the shoot.

“Jessica was on board. She was just super-excited to be able to put her dress on and to have a day [of] remembering him,” said Mandi.

The final photographs were taken where Kendall was buried.

“I’ve been dreading this day for a really long time. I wanted to be where he was,” said Jessica.
