THE Uitenhage High Past Pupil and Teacher Association (UHPPTA) is still going strong after eight years of dedicated service to the school community.
Their latest venture is a Masquerade Ball which will be held at the end of September.
According to Sharon Jacobs from UHPPTA, the alumni association was founded during 2010 and has spent more than R450 000 in bursaries to current and former learners of Uitenhage High School.
“The third batch of graduates from this programme will be completing their degrees at the end of 2018. For this year alone 12 current learners and 4 first year university students were assisted by UHPPTA,” said Jacobs.
The association focusses on learners, teachers and parents and its core business is to assist the school by any possible means. Teacher assistance programmes and a skills programme for the parents are some of the future projects.
“Its flagship project, the building of a school hall, is in process and soil testing has been done by the architect,” said Jacobs.
- The Masquerade Ball will be held on September 29th at the VW PeoplePavilion. The guest speaker will be Ronelle Brink whilst DJ Superman will be responsible for the music and entertainment. Tickets are R200 per person and are available from the school (041 992 5020) or Roshaan Pather (084 941 2708).
